InvitadoBit of an embarrassing admission, but for the first year or so I was buying crypto I never checked the rate beforehand. I would just pick an amount in my local currency, tap through the purchase, and accept whatever BTC figure came back at the end. It never occurred to me to verify any of it. Then a friend asked me how much I had actually paid per coin across a few purchases and I had no idea. I could not reconstruct it from memory and the exchange did not make it easy either. Since then I have started checking the rate before I commit, which sounds obvious in hindsight but apparently was not obvious to me at the time.

InvitadoFor that sort of calculation, I’d use a dedicated Bitcoin calculator https://paybis.com/bitcoin-calculator/ rather than an exchange. Paybis has one here: Bitcoin calculator. You can enter the BTC amount and use the result to get an approximate fiat value without doing the arithmetic manually. It’s especially handy when you have a list of different amounts to work through. Just remember that the result reflects the current conversion rate, so it shouldn’t be treated as the historical value of a transaction from a previous date. And if you’re actually buying or selling, the final transaction rate and fees should be checked separately. User 1: That makes much more sense for what I’m doing. I was treating this like a trading question when really I just need a conversion tool. Being able to enter each amount individually should make the spreadsheet much easier to update, and I can keep the historical prices separate when I need those. I’ll use the calculator for the current estimates and avoid confusing those figures with the actual rates from older transactions.
